At Lacy we have many volunteer opportunities. We have a Lacy Volunteer Center, located near our main office. Our volunteer coordinator is Jane Tanner. When not in the Volunteer office, she can be found in the main office. She is available to provide information, assistance, and suggestions for our many Lacy volunteers.

Our volunteer program at Lacy is extensive. In addition to our volunteers who help in the classrooms and around our school, we have a tutoring program called, S.T.E.P. (Student Tutorial Enrichment Program), which provides one-on-one tutoring with a student once a week. This tutoring program gives academic as well as mentoring opportunities to our students and is comprised of Lacy parents, business partners, and many members of our community.
Please call at 571-6834 or drop by to see Jane when you're in the building and she'll help you choose a student to whom you can be a "Lacy Pal". (All classes have a twenty-five minute lunch period.) |

Anyone interested in the many volunteer opportunities available at Lacy can contact Jane Tanner in the Lacy Volunteer Center. Her phone number is 571-6834. She is available to help with any questions you might have and will help you become involved in the area of your choice. |
As part of Wake Countys Accelerated Learning Program, there are also volunteer opportunities to work with students who are trying to improve their academic performance. There is a four-hour training commitment for this program which is being provided by Wake Education Partnership for large groups or which can be provided at each school. (See Jane Tanner for details.) The tutoring for this program takes place during the ALP time only and focuses on very specific needs. (Literacy or math) It is not a pullout program during the school day and has very specific thirty-minute lessons, which are very easy to follow. |
